Consequently, genistein altered the expression of genes associated with cancer cell motility and metastasis, and specifically increased the expression of BASP1 and decreased the expression of HCF2. The role of genes, which were altered in prostate tissue by genistein, in cancer invasion was evaluated in human prostate cancer cells in vitro, demonstrating the cell invasion to be suppressed by BASP1 and increased by HCF2 [118].
