Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing 16 (ZBTB16), also known as promyelocytic leukemia zinc finger protein (PLZF) or zinc finger protein 145 (ZFP145), is a protein-coding gene initially discovered in a patient with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) in 1993 with a t(11;17) reciprocal chromosomal translocation resulting in an in-frame fusion with the retinoic acid receptor alpha (RARα) gene. Here, ZBTB16 is linked to acute promyelocytic leukemia.
