While dysfunction of Pvalb neurons is undisputedly linked to neurodevelopmental [2–4] and also neuropsychiatric disorders (e.g., schizophrenia [13]), the putative role of the protein PV lending its name to the Pvalb neuron subpopulation has been investigated to a much lesser extent in these disorders. The gene discussed is PVALB; the disease is schizophrenia.
