Firstly, we compared the methylation average of SFRP2 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and visceral adipose tissue (VAT) from non-CRC participants and CRC patients classified according to their 30th percentile of vitamin D. Our results showed that not significant differences were observed in SFRP2 promoter methylation between < 30th and > 30th groups in PBMCs and VAT from non-CRC subjects (Fig. 1a). This evidence concerns the gene SFRP2 and colorectal carcinoma.
