The group with moderate-severe AAC was older, had a higher percentage of males, more DM2 complications, more prevalence of atherosclerosis, higher percentage of smokers or ex-smokers, lower GFR and higher levels of urinary albumin, albumin: creatinine ratio, creatinine, triglycerides, HbA1c and AGEs compared to those with no-mild AAC. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and atherosclerosis.
