In hereditary angioedema (HAE), genetic defects in the C1-INH gene (Serine Protease Inhibitor Gene 1 present on the Long Arm of Chromosome 11 [11q]: SERPING1) can result in a deficient or dysfunctional protein (HAE Type I and II, respectively [HAE-C1INH]) [2, 3]. Here, SERPING1 is linked to hereditary angioedema.
