Altered levels of the 72 kDa heat shock protein (HSP72), observed in extracellular fluids (eHSP72), such as plasma, serum, and liquor, and intracellular (iHSP72) milieu, such as leukocytes3, are frequently accompanied by an oxidative stress profile4 and have been associated with the severity and mortality of sepsis in both human2,4,5 and animal models6,7. Here, HSPA1A is linked to Sepsis.
