Anti-TNF agents are known to increase the risk of respiratory tract and other opportunistic infections,36 particularly when used in association with thiopurines and corticosteroids.37 However, anti-TNF therapies are currently being evaluated in clinical trials38 as a potential treatment for COVID-19-induced cytokine storm.39 40 In view of the uncertainty of the effects of corticosteroids and infliximab on SARS-CoV-2 infection, it was considered appropriate that all patients with a positive swab should be discussed with a COVID-19 specialist to guide decision-making. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is Opportunistic infection.
