METTL14 is critical for EBV-associated tumorigenesis through interactions with viral-encoded latent oncoprotein EBNA3C, but in the majority of cases, it serves as a tumor suppressor in several types of cancer, including GBM, HCC, CRC, BCA and EC [99, 104, 139].
