This would be consistent with a previous human report that protein and mRNA levels of Bcl-2 were reduced in osteoblasts isolated from post-menopausal women with osteoporosis as compared to controls; this same cell population from osteoporotic patients also showed decreased proliferation and increased apoptosis, consistent with trends seen in Bcl-2-deficient mice (Pang et al., 2018). Here, BCL2 is linked to osteoporosis.
