In previous clinical and basic research studies, our group found that the main CRSJ component, C. deserticola, can improve the UPDRS score of patients with PD, improve the behavioral scores of animals in PD models, increase the expression of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor and its receptor in ME23.5 cells, increase the expression of PI3K and AKT in PD model rats, and reduce the apoptosis of nerve cells [3–6]. This evidence concerns the gene GDNF and Parkinson disease.
