In the regulatory networks, hsa-miR-34a regulated 9 downregulated genes, such as KLF4. MiR-34a was reported to be associated with some metabolic disorders such as obesity, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and type 2 diabetes, which were implicated in colorectal carcinogenesis (Kong et al., 2011; Rottiers and Naar, 2012; Castro et al., 2013; Nesca et al., 2013; Guo et al., 2016; Uzunlulu et al., 2016). Here, KLF4 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
