Another cohort study conducted in Holland by the same research group found that SCD patients with initial abnormal CSF levels of Aβ42, T-tau, and P-tau have increased the risk of progression into MCI or AD within 2 years by 16, 2.8, and 2.6 times, respectively, compared to those with normal levels, suggesting that low level Aβ42 is a strong predictive factor for cognitive decline in SCD patients (50). The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
