More interestingly, the IL-33/ST2 system emerged as a novel fibroblast–cardiomyocyte communication system that regulates the accumulation of anti-inflammatory T regulatory lymphocytes (Tregs) and was proposed as a biomarker for cardiomyopathy in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) (Kuswanto et al., 2016). Here, IL33 is linked to Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
