To this end, the in situ expression of BMP-2 and nBMP-2 in human breast cancer was correlated with the expression of the main EMT biomarkers (e-cadherin and vimentin) and molecules involved in bone metabolisms (runt-related transcription factor 2, RUNX2; receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-Β ligand, RANKL; stromal cell-derived factor, SDF-1). This evidence concerns the gene CXCL12 and breast carcinoma.
