CCND1 and breast carcinoma: In the same population, Ceschi and co-workers surprisingly found that the G870A variant of cyclin D1 (CCND1), which activates apoptosis in the presence of oxidative stress, reduced breast cancer risk when restricted to women with low n-3 LC-PUFA intake and high n-6 LC-PUFA intake (n-6 LC-PUFA also increases oxidative stress).
