Inhibition of STAT3 in wide range of cancer cell lines with small molecular inhibitors, dominant‐negative mutants, and small interfering RNA (siRNA) results in a decline in cell proliferation, indicating that STAT3 is a potential target for anticancer therapies (Lin et al., 2011; Lin et al., 2005; Ni et al., 2000; Zhang et al., 2008).
