It was also demonstrated that 14 out of 18 controls that were found with abnormally reduced lactoferrin levels (<7.43 μg/mL) had converted to a clinical diagnosis of MCI or AD over the course of the study (1–5 years), whereas that was not the case for subjects with normal/high levels of lactoferrin (≥7.43 μg/mL).
