MEG3 and cancer: Moreover, recent research have identified a number of lncRNAs such as PVT1 (Plasmacytoma Variant Translocation 1), HOTAIR (HOX Transcript Antisense RNA), GAS5 (Growth Arrest Specific-5), SAMMSON (Survival Associated Mitochondrial Melanoma Specific Oncogenic Non-Coding RNA), CASC15 (Cancer Susceptibility 15), or MEG3 (Maternally Expressed Gene 3) that promote cancer development and progression and can be used as biomarkers of the disease (reviewed in [100,101,102,103]).
