As expected, the levels of mRNA of genes encoding for inflammation (Fig 1H), HSC activation and fibrosis (S1B Fig), and ATP-dependent ENTPD1 ectonucleotidase (S1C Fig), but not NT5E or ENTPD1 secreted levels (S1D Fig), were also increased in livers of patients with NASH (vs healthy controls). Here, ENTPD1 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
