More importantly, we also uncovered a novel mechanism that NETs trapped CRC cells, and increased metastatic behavior of tumor cells through triggering tumorous IL-8 elevation, and elevated IL-8 in turn recruited more neutrophils to form enhanced NETs, which formed a positive loop connecting CRC and NETs-forming neutrophils to promote CRC liver metastasis (Figure 8).
