HCC is typically characterised by up-regulation of genes involved in FA synthesis, such as ATP-citrate lyase (ACLY), acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), and fatty acid synthase (FASN), which induce conversion of citrate to acetyl-CoA, malonyl-CoA, and FA, respectively [91,92,93,94,95,96,97,98]. The gene discussed is FASN; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
