Immunohistochemistry using anti‐p62 antibodies has proved very useful in the study of neurodegenerative diseases, as it is commonly found in neuronal cytoplasmic or nuclear inclusions (e.g. Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal lobar degenerations, Lewy body diseases, or trinucleotide repeat disorders such as Huntington's disease). The gene discussed is SQSTM1; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
