EDN1 and hypertensive disorder: Presence of T allele at 5665 locus in maternal EDN1 gene is associated with higher ET-1 levels.[15] Recent literature suggests that TNF-α-induced hypertension was associated with significant increases in renal and placental ET-1.[16] Additionally, ET-1 may be 1 of the key links between primary placental disorders and the systemic endothelial dysfunction of PE.[17] This study was performed to obtain a comprehensive estimate of the putative influence of miR-206 on EDN1 gene expression, further determining its association with PE and the underlying molecular mechanisms.
