In contrast, proteins encoded by mRNAs whose translational efficiency was suppressed upon infection by either life stage of L. donovani were enriched for categories related to protein trafficking (i.e. Rab protein signal transduction, vesicle organization, and post-Golgi vesicle-mediated transport), cell metabolism (i.e. mitochondrial membrane organization, mitochondrial respiratory chain complex assembly, fatty acid beta-oxidation, and peroxisomal membrane transport), protein ubiquitination, and tRNA metabolism (Fig 2A, right panel; FDR ≤0.05). This evidence concerns the gene AGFG1 and infection.
