Using both techniques, GWAS and TWAS, IL-6, ALPL (alkaline phosphatase), and NAV1 (neuron navigator 1) emerged as important contributors involved not only in pulse and blood pressure modulation—two important factors associated with blood flow turbulence, already identified as risk factors for CAVD development—but also in the valve mineralization process. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is congenital bilateral aplasia of vas deferens from CFTR mutation.
