Six possible candidate genes that could serve as potential biomarkers for T2D diagnosis were selected, including malic enzyme 1(ME1), malic enzyme 2 (ME2), malate dehydrogenase 1 (MDH1), 3‐hydroxy‐3‐methylglutaryl‐CoA reductase (HMGCR), ATP binding cassette subfamily B member 1(ABCB1) and cytochrome P450 family 3 subfamily A member 4(CYP3A4). The gene discussed is MDH1; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
