MAP1LC3A and Stroke: In the ischemic brain, Tian et al. [60] detected LC3-positive autophagic cells, mostly neurons, and an increase in LC3-II expression, with a peak at day 1 post-ischemia, indicating that neuronal autophagy occurs early after stroke and further suggesting that astrocytes and microglia might be more resistant to ischemia-induced autophagy.
