Considerable evidence regarding periodontal treatment relationship with short-term systemic inflammation and endothelial dysfunction [49], as well as more recent findings, which connect periodontal inflammation with specific biomarkers, such as Endothelin-1, Asymmetric Dimethylarginine (ADMA) and vitamin D [50,51,52], may justify such a perspective. This evidence concerns the gene EDN1 and endothelial dysfunction.
