The chemokine, CCL2 (C-C motif chemokine ligand 2), which has been shown to be upregulated in human AD brains, caused an increase in migratory and inflammatory phenotypes in microglia and T cells within the 3D model, and highlighted the relevance of such disease models in the study of inflammatory signalling pathways (Park et al., 2018). Here, CCL2 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
