Various forms of experimental neuropathy induced by peripheral injury (Kingery et al., 1999; Botz et al., 2013; Gallo et al., 2017) have been associated to neurogenic inflammation, eliciting the release of substance P, calcitonin gene-related peptide, neurokinin A, endothelin-3, cytokines, among others cellular mediators of inflammation. This evidence concerns the gene EDN3 and neuropathy.
