Of the 4 proteins selected for validation, we observed that CD14, lumican, and VCAM-1 are overexpressed in subsets characterizing diabetic nephropathy, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, and lupus; however, our observed increases in HEXA urinary excretion was not reflected at the tissue level in Nephroseq as only two datasets reported significantly altered expression in opposing directions. This evidence concerns the gene HEXA and diabetic kidney disease.
