Given the importance of IL-12 in promoting type 1 anti-tumor immune response, we had previously observed that, by overexpressing one component of the IL-12 receptor IL12RB2, B16 melanoma cells could create a “cytokine sink" and deprive tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes of this local signal to sustain an anti-tumor response [22].
