Hence, the present study seeks to evaluate three KLOTHO gene polymorphisms in an elderly population from the São Paulo Ageing & Health Study (SPAH) and their potential association mainly with mortality, but also with the prevalence of major ageing-related outcomes, including osteoporosis, osteoporotic fractures (clinical and vertebral fractures), sarcopenia, kidney function (estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR]), and cardiovascular events (i.e. myocardial infarction and stroke). This evidence concerns the gene KL and osteoporosis.
