We presently observed that baricitinib, a JAK1/2 inhibitor recently approved for use in rheumatoid arthritis by the FDA52, decreased all the three hallmarks previously identified in islets of T1D individuals and initiated by IFNα in human beta cells, namely HLA class I overexpression, ER stress and beta cell apoptosis, supporting its future testing in T1D. Here, IFNA17 is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
