CRP and thrombophilia: In the majority of severe COVID-19 patients, the cytokine storm was associated with high levels of erythematosus sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP), which were associated with ARDS, hypercoagulation, and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), presenting as thrombocytopenia, thrombosis, and gangrene of the limbs.
