By contrast, other groups established that the EGFR-induced MAPK pathway counteracts CD95-mediated apoptosis in hepatocyte cells exposed to bile salts (Qiao et al., 2001) and this RTK also inhibits the CD95-mediated apoptotic signaling pathway in glioma cells (Steinbach et al., 2002) rendering difficult to conclude on the role of EGFR in the modulation of the CD95-mediated cell death program.
