IL‐1, IL‐6, IL‐10, and TNF‐α have been implicated in the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, the 2003 SARS outbreak and the H5N1 avian influenza infections firstly recognized in 1987 (Channappanavar & Perlman, 2017; Saito et al, 2018; Gupta et al, 2020). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and severe acute respiratory syndrome.
