AGER and systemic lupus erythematosus: Oxidative stress is common in inflammatory disorders and results in the increased production of reactive carbonyl groups that are partially converted to AGEs, and the DEGs in the AGE-RAGE signaling pathway might also be involved in the accumulation of AGEs in SLE patients and lead to diabetic complications (de Leeuw et al., 2007; Li et al., 2007; Kurien and Scofield, 2008; Nienhuis et al., 2008).
