PI3K (phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase) is a protein kinase that phosphorylates phosphatidylinositol 4,5-phosphate to regulate the signaling of T-lymphocytes; an increased amount of PI3K was also observed in an animal model of lupus (Liu et al., 1998; Grolleau et al., 2000; Niculescu et al., 2003; Joseph et al., 2014). Here, WEE1 is linked to systemic lupus erythematosus.
