Finally, there was also a significant reduction in the major neutrophil chemokine IL-8 in the maternal plasma and amniotic fluid in the BSCI compared to the GBS only group; many other cytokines (e.g., IL-6, IL-1β, IL-7, TNF-α) were also reduced in either the fetal plasma, chorioamniotic membranes, lung, or brain tissues compared to GBS alone.
