The results of RT-qPCR comparing T2DMpoorly-DL-P vs. H, which assessed the influence of poor glycemic control of T2DM added to the presence of dyslipidemia and periodontitis, validated the importance of the TGFB1I1 (transforming growth factor beta 1 induced transcript 1) and the VNN1 (vanin 1) genes, since they were upregulated on T2DMpoorly-DL-P subjects, while the HLADRB4 (major histocompatibility complex, class II, DR beta 4) and the CXCL8 (C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 8) genes were downregulated in the same group (Figs. 5A and 6C). The gene discussed is CXCL8; the disease is periodontitis.
