Ever since the discovery of the genetic fusion between the erythroblast transformation-specific (ETS) transcriptional factor ETS-related gene (ERG) and the androgen-responsive promotor transmembrane protease, serine 2 (TMPRSS2) by Tomlins et al. [5], there has been an intense debate about its usefulness as biomarker for the detection and the stratification of PC [6]. The gene discussed is TMPRSS2; the disease is pachyonychia congenita.
