Our study similarly shows the increased expression of IL-10 in microglia cells at 4 h p.i. and in RPE cells at 6 h p.i., which also correlates with another report by Lamas et al. [41] that demonstrated that T cells producing IL-10 slowed down the clearance of Salmonella infection in S. enterica, a Gram-negative foodborne pathogenic bacterium, leading to increased mortality.
