In light of the recent clinical trials of anti-IFN-α (rontalizumab [34], sifalimumab [35]) and anti-IFN α/β receptor (IFNAR; antifrolumab [36,37]) agents in SLE, it is of particular importance to demonstrate how a currently available lupus therapy indirectly impacts on this pathway. This evidence concerns the gene IFNA2 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
