Our previous study found that epidermal growth factor induced the expression of fascin-1 via activation of the p44/p42 MAPK (ERK1/2) pathway, which subsequently promoted breast cancer cell migration and invasion [17], while other reports have shown that resistin also promotes osteosarcoma angiogenesis and the proliferation of smooth muscle cells through the p44/p42 MAPK (ERK1/2) pathway [9, 18]. This evidence concerns the gene RETN and breast carcinoma.
