Indeed, application of TNF, most commonly in combination with melphalan (Mel), represents the current standard‐of‐care (SOC) treatment for targeting cancers in the extremities that are unsuitable for surgical resection, such as extremity soft‐tissue sarcomas (ESTS, which represent 40% of soft‐tissue sarcomas), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), in‐transit melanoma and fibromatosis (Smith & Hayes, 2016). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and Merkel cell skin cancer.
