NPC1 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma: In addition to the fine-level anatomical detail provided by MEMRI in the current study, previous diffusion and tract-density weighted imaging methods have revealed differences in fractional anisotropy, tract dispersion, and apparent diffusion coefficient in the white matter of children (Trouard et al., 2005) and mice (Totenhagen et al., 2012) carrying mutations in NPC1. Further study of diffusion in combination with the cerebellar sub-region specific contrast afforded by MEMRI may be useful in future studies of NPC.
