Our data provide support for the reported association of CACNA2D1 and CACNA2D3 genetic aberrations with autism (Iossifov et al., 2012; De Rubeis et al., 2014; Vergult et al., 2015) and the high comorbidity of epilepsy in individuals with autism (Tuchman and Rapin, 2002; Levisohn, 2007). The gene discussed is CACNA2D3; the disease is autism.
