Following detection of potential target mRNAs for these DEMs in the miRTarBase database, GO annotation and KEGG pathway enrichment analyses of the target gene lists revealed their participation in several cellular processes (e.g. RNA and DNA binding, focal adhesion, and regulation of apoptosis) and signaling cascades related to tumor development (e.g. cell cycle, MAPK, and PI3K-AKT pathways). The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is neoplasm.
