Additionally, since previous large cohort studies have shown that SIRT1 genetic variations are related to increases in BMI and risk of obesity [21, 35], our investigation on the correlation between BMI and SIRT1 plasmatic levels (Table S3) showed no correlation between these two parameters, proposing that they might not be dependently related to PE pathophysiology.
